Network devices have two different ways of connecting to a network: automatic or manual.
When using an EMnify SIM card in a radio device, we recommend the user to select the automatic mode and let the device choose the best available network. The reason for this is simple: our SIM cards are not configured to steer devices to any network. We fully let the device attach to the one showing the best performance at a specific place and time. By selecting one network in particular, the user would refrain from using this key function and could even run into problems if the selected network is not available.
At EMnify, we try to offer the best connectivity to our clients. In order to do this, we:
- Never steer a device to attach a network with which we have better financial deals. We let devices connect to the strongest network we have an agreement with;
- Always increase the list of roaming partners we work with.
Exception for LTE CAT M1
If the device only supports CAT M, automatic operator selection can be on.
If the device supports LTE CAT M and other radio Access technologies (RAT) types,it is needed to define the network selection procedure by setting the scan sequence via AT Commands or restrict the RAT types it can access to Cat M. To get the full AT Command sequence, please check AT Commands to configure the modem to use CAT-M1 (LTE-M)
