How do I use emnify's OpenVPN solution on an iPhone?
Does anyone have some useful instructions on how to connect to emnify's OpenVPN server using an iPhone?
I would like to run the OpenVPN client on an iPhone so that I can ping and log into the device with the emnify SIM.

Hi,
We don't have an official guide, but you can do the following:
In the emnify portal:
- Go to the Integrations menu
- Scroll down to the Secure Connection section, add a new one, and select OpenVPN
- Select the MacOS tab (There is no difference with iOS)
- Click on Download client.ovpn
- Select the file that adapts to your region. For this guide, we are choosing eu-west-1
Please ensure that the Breakout Region in the Service Policy assigned to your devices matches the file you have downloaded. In this case, we need to assign eu-west-1 to the service policy:
Now, open with any text editor (e.g. TextEdit in Mac) the .ovpn file you have downloaded, and locate the following line:
and delete ~/openvpn/credentials.txt, leaving only auth-user-pass:
Save the .ovpn file and send it to your device. Then store the file in your device.
In your iOS device:
- Install OpenVPN Connect from the AppStore
- Open the Files app and locate the .ovpn file you just saved. click on the Share icon and share it with the OpenVPN app
OpenVPN will show the following dialog:
Click on Add, install the profile, and then you can connect your OpenVPN client using the Username and Password of the user
