emnify has introduced email notifications/alerts directly in the emnify platform for critical events. Try it out in the automations section. See the announcement here and the documentation on how to use it here.
emnify integrates easily with Zapier and other tools like make.com
In this how to we will configure an automation to receive an email from gmail each time an emnify device/endpoint is blocked.
- On make.com create a new scenario
- Choose the "Webhooks" Module
- Choose "Custom webhook"
- Give it a meaningful name
- Copy the webhook for use later in the emnify portal
- Log into your emnify account and navigate to the "Integrations" page and navigate to "Data Streams" and select "Add new data stream"
Add a "Webhook" Integration:
- Give the new data stream a meaningful name (as it can be one of many)
- Choose "stream events"
-
Search for endpoint events and select "endpoint blocked" and "endpoint data traffic limit warning"
- note: the limit an the warning threshold are configured in the service policy used by the device/endpoint
- Paste the make.com Webhook link that we created earlier into "Destination" / HTTP(S) target URL:
- Click "Create"
- Return to make.com and ensure that the webhook created is selected and click on "redetermine data structure"
- Trigger an event by using data until the warning / limit threshold is used by a test device/endpoint.
- add a new module to send emails (in this example, Gmail)
- The data structure can be used to craft an email like the example below
Note: When using a personal Google account (@gmail or @googlemail), make.com has a set of additional steps to follow: https://www.make.com/en/help/connections/connecting-to-google-services-using-a-custom-oauth-client
